about
Under Par is about seeing the beauty in imperfection. We all dwell heavily on our identities; how we present ourselves to the outside world. We sometimes struggle with our self-image if it doesn't quite meet the standards we're presented with - whether those standards are socially stigmatic or directly enforced by people closest to us. Our experiences and the world we live in shape who we are. In this song, I'm challenging this illusion by celebrating the cracked pots; those of us who have been broken and are in need of real, profound love.
lyrics
Life is more than just a picture
A dirty screen, a piece of paper
I like you just the way you are
Don't cover up your scars
Under par
Don't tear yourself apart
You're still a work of art
It's what you are
Under par
Life is more than one sentence
They took away your spirit
I like you just the way you are
Don't cover up your scars
Under par
I can see you in the dark
You're still my shining star
It's what you are
Under par
I like you just the way you are
Don't cover up your scars
Under par
Don't tear yourself apart
You're still a work of art
Under par
